First snow last night.

I talked about Autumn yesterday and it snowed last night! So in the 3 days at the fjord we have seen 3 seasons as it was sunny when we arrived.

Our trip to the East meant going back up the mountain in snow. 🫤

Pleased vince is driving.

We set off at 9.30am and arrived in Hofn at 2.30pm.

On the way we followed the A1 coastal road all the way.

As it was bad weather I haven’t many pics.

There are steep cliffs and fjords all the way. Wide valleys give way to fishing villages.

There were signs of volcanic eruptions lava fields, scree, boulders all over the route.

We stopped at view points it was wet and windy .

They still looked impressive. Its a shame we did not see the best views in sunshine.

On one beach we found green rocks and coloured pebbles.

This is rare rock that is formed as lava falls from heights quickly called (. IF you are

Interested google) ignimbrite . So no basalt here but iconic green rock forms.

Many waders and seabirds,  hundreds of swans no exaggeration, were at the waters edge. It’s a birdwatchers paradise!

It was a long journey today. But now we are at Vestrahorn stokksns peninsula Hofn for 3 nights. Hope my photos are interesting.

We had a lamb dinner and liquorice. Crème bruleee pud today. Well deserved ….
