July 1 Canada day

Hi we travelled up to Prince Edward Island today. There were new parts of the motorway that our sat nav didn’t recognise so that was fun to puzzle out which road we needed to be turning onto, but we made it.

We broke our journey at Le Pays de la Sagouine. It seems to be a sort of outdoor theme park at the town of Bouctouche. It celebrates Canadian French Acadian music and food through drama and role play all in the French language. There are lots of buildings with people dressed in the styles of earlier years and explaining fishing and country life etc We really enjoyed ourselves and they all switched to English for us!

The journey to PEI was brilliant over the confederation bridge. It is a span of 12.9 kilometres and took 10 minutes to cross by car. Looking down on the sea was exciting as I was the passenger and could look!!

Tonight we are going to see the fireworks in Charlottetown at 10 pm. We have flags to wave and we’ve eaten Canada day cake and been given pin badges.

We are in a heatwave like you now …….but fortunately for us, it’s cooler by the coast.

More tomorrow. It’s going to be so great here all we’ve seen so far is lovely xxx
